2017
Wed 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Topic: Managing a Business

Developing a new technology within a university can raise questions such as: • Who owns the technology?, • What are the requirements for being a PI?, and • Are unpaid consultants allowed on SBIR/STTR projects? Attend this webinar and learn the answers to these and other questions as well as SBIR/STTR eligibility requirements, how the SBIR and STTR programs differ from each other and from RO1’s, and how to determine if this type of funding makes sense for your technology.

Speaker(s): Lisa Kurek, Sr. Principal Consultant, Partner Emerita, BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting (BBCetc) Lisa Kurek is nationally recognized speaker, trainer and consultant in grant-writing and commercialization for entrepreneurs. She is an expert in the federal SBIR/STTR programs, having trained thousands of entrepreneurs in how to prepare winning SBIR/STTR proposals and coached hundreds of companies one-on-one through the process. Prior to joining BBCetc in 1997, Lisa spent 15 years in product and business development, sales and product management in the biomedical technology industry with large, publicly-held corporations as well as small start-ups. Lisa earned two degrees in Biomedical Engineering, a Bachelor’s from Brown University and a Master’s from the University of Michigan.

For those that are unable to attend ‘live” at that time, the program will be recorded and registered attendees will receive a link to the recorded session. SBDC Network programs and services are provided to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance. Language assistance services for clients with limited English proficiency will be provided.
